Galaxi at Palace Playland to Be Replaced by Sea Viper in 2018

Galaxi, which has operated since 1994 at Palace Playland in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, gave its last rides on September 4. It will be replaced in 2018 by Sea Viper, a new steel coaster that, according to owner Joel Golder, will be "twice as high, a third wider, and a third longer." The 70-foot-tall coaster will feature six individual car trains that will carry four riders each. The cost of the new coaster is approximately $6 million, some of which will be used to pay for additional land (now a parking lot) to accommodate the coaster's larger size. Sea Viper is expected to open in May 2018.
