ZDT's Amusement Park, Seguin, Texas, opened in 2007 with five attractions. Since then, the family-owned business has added water slides, a shot tower, a multi-level indoor/outdoor go-kart track and more. For 2015, the park has teamed up with The Gravity Group, LLC, to go back in time 13 decades and re-create the switchback railway with Switchback, the first modern wooden shuttle roller coaster.
What will begin as a typical wooden roller coaster climb up the lift hill will quickly become a 21st century thrill ride. Switchback will propel riders through airtime-filled hills and overbanked turns over a course of 1,175 feet before reaching "The Grand Spire" where the train reverses direction and repeats the experience – backward!
Complete details, including ride specs, conceptual drawings and an animated video can be found here. Look for Switchback to debut next summer!
