Adventureland, Farmingdale, New York, debuted Turbulence, its new spinning roller coaster, on May 22, 2015.
Boasting 1,210 feet of yellow and green track, with an impressive array of three banking turns and one Immelmann turn, the 55-foot-high Turbulence zips along at speeds of up to 45 mph. Each of the two trains has three cars that seat four people. Riders sit back to back, and each car spins individually as the train traverses through the hills and loops.
The main idea behind Turbulence was to create a new ride for Adventureland that was more accessible to families and yet retained a sense of unbridled excitement for those seeking an adrenaline rush.
Turbulence replaces Adventureland's former Hurricane, that closed last fall after 23 years.
