Playland's Castaway Cove, Ocean City, New Jersey, has announced plans for a 125-foot tall roller coaster scheduled to open in 2016.
GaleForce will be a triple-launch roller coaster featuring a 90-degree drop, speeds of 64 mph and seven "thrilling" elements. The 12-passenger vehicle utilizes a three-tier, stadium seating design with four seats per row and a harness that comes over the passengers' shoulders. The launch system will take riders forward, then backward before launching them around the track. An animated video of the ride can be viewed here .
GaleForce and another soon-to-be-named roller coaster will replace the amusement park's current coasters, looping Python and Flitzer, at 10th Street.
It is hoped that construction will begin in mid-January so that the ride can open by May, after a 30-day test period. GaleForce was designed by S & S Power of Logan, Utah.
