The company that has a Ferris wheel on the Boardwalk in Daytona Beach has begun construction on a roller coaster, the city's first. The object is to bring more tourists to the strip near the Pier.
The park will spend more than a million dollars adding that roller coaster, the former Blue Diamond Streak from Blue Diamond Park in New Castle, Delaware. The Pinfari Zyklon Z64 model was purchased at an auction and was stored in a warehouse in Tampa while the Daytona Beach site is being prepared.
An ambitious schedule calls for the coaster to be open by the beginning of August.
