Wild West World in Valley City, Kansas closed on July 9 and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The brand new park had opened for business just two months earlier on May 1. The owners cited initial cost overruns, rainy weather and extremely poor attendance as contributors to the failure of the park. U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Robert Nugent has agreed to allow some vendors to repossess items not paid for, but is trying to keep the park together so that it can be sold. California based Parks America has already made an offer for the park. Wild West World is home to two roller coasters: Crazy Mouse, a Reverchon spinning mouse, and Bronco Buster, a Fajume Wacky Worm.
